The Leukemia Foundation of Arizona (LFA) is a voluntary organization started in 1972 by a group of dedicated physicians and nurses to provide for the immediate help and attention needed by families of children with leukemia.|

The board of directors of the Foundation is composed of approximately ten healthcare professionals and interested persons from other fields.  The Leukemia Foundation of Arizona is one of the few recognized charitable organizations which have absolutely no paid staff.  This results in an expense to distributed funds ratio of 7.7%.

The Foundation, a certified 501C3 organization,  reaches out its helping hand both materially and emotionally to Arizona Families.  While the aid is limited to those under 21, it is given freely and quickly, and with respect for the individuals dignity.  LFA provides many different services for stricken children and their families.

The Samples of Family Requests page reflects a few of the hundreds of requests that LFA receives annually.

Childhood Leukemia is a cancer of the blood forming tissues and usually affects the white blood cells. The cause of most types of leukemia is not known though it is known that exposure to radiation and certain chemicals can increase the risk of developing leukemia.
